Thanks for the inspiration! I bet red rose petals- maybe cranberries- arranged with scented geranium leaves would make a Christmasy looking ice ring perfect to float in the holiday punch bowl. I understand poinsettia is not nearly so poisonous as its reputation- but I wouldn’t take the chance with any toxins melting into the punch. Best to reserve poinsettia for the or ice-jacket to chill wine, vodka or large bottle of soda for the kids.

Poinsettias are in the store, and I’m planning to make more ice luminarias with them this year. I think I’ll go for some bigger ‘blossoms’ and freeze them in 2-liter plastic bottles this time–they’ll hold up longer as a centerpiece indoors. I just love this idea, and I hope everyone tries to make at least one! Thanks for the lovely story, Debra.
