Also, you can view some of my photos taken at the villa and gardens in my Vacation in Italy album on Webshots. For instance, did you know that star jasmine will cover a chain link fence in a couple of years and can be sheared like a hedge yet still bloom? And huge urn-like pots beside town doorways in Orvieto contain jasmine which climbs the face of the building to shroud the upper balcony? It was an old old stone farmhouse/villa with vineyards and olive trees, a gardener and a most impressive housekeeper. We had this property all to ourselves as the base for adventures elsewhere in Italy. My husband and I chose to stay mostly there, to soak in depth the peace of this life, which was to me the REAL La Dolce Vita. I learned a great deal about the gardening style of the area, and it refreshed my personal gardening style. I bought lots of terra cotta pots, lots of star jasmine, rosemary, lavender, lemon bushes/trees, climbing roses. Plans for restoring a derelict cement block garage on our property changed as well. In short, you will have a great deal of fun, you will love the people and the countryside, and the HISTORY.....my word, it is so mind boggling to walk the streets where the disciples walked in the years of early Christianity. Have fun.
